Meet the team: 5 Minutes with Ben

17 December 2025

At SRVO, we support clients across the UK in navigating the complex landscape of building safety, compliance, and long-term risk management. Our Risk & Compliance team plays a key role in helping building owners meet regulatory duties while ensuring occupier safety through clear communication, practical solutions, and technical expertise.

We’re delighted to welcome Ben to the team, joining as a Senior Building Safety Advisor to support clients in meeting Building Safety requirements. Ben leads a dedicated team offering Building Safety Case expertise for high rise buildings (HBRs) including Gap Analysis and Safety Case Reports as well as Resident Engagement Strategies and Mandatory Occurrence Reporting Strategies. Ben brings a practical, resident-focused approach that closely aligns with SRVO’s values of integrity, collaboration, and transparency.

What recent project are you most proud of?

I’ve been closely involved in several HRBs with defective external wall systems, where we needed to move from a ‘stay put’ strategy to a simultaneous ‘get out’ evacuation. Delivering that transition safely, especially in larger buildings, is an important challenge. It requires installing the right fire alarm systems and maintaining clear, ongoing communication with residents and all stakeholders. Seeing these strategies implemented effectively has been incredibly rewarding.

Which of SRVO’s values resonate with you the most and why?

  • Innovation. I enjoy pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, especially when it comes to using technology to improve productivity and outcomes.
  • Integrity. Building safety relies entirely on honesty. We must always be open with clients about any issues identified and work with them to find the safest, most effective solution.
  • Collaboration. Building safety is never achieved in isolation. It takes a coordinated team effort, from our fire risk assessors and surveyors to building owners, regulators, and, of course, the residents.
  • Transparency. As with integrity, transparency is essential. When everyone is open about the challenges, we can deliver the right long-term solutions.

Describe your journey into property, what first drew you to the industry?

I first joined a property consultancy in a client services role because I genuinely enjoy working with people. Over time, I found myself increasingly pulled toward the technical side of property—and once I began working in that space, the rest was history.

What’s the most memorable or interesting thing you’ve experienced on site?

For me, it’s meeting the residents. Over the years, I’ve met many colourful and memorable characters, each offering their own perspective on the place they call home.

What’s your favourite building?

There are so many buildings I admire. I recently visited the Natural History Museum, which is a striking blend of Gothic and Romanesque design. I’m also a huge admirer of Florence Cathedral (Santa Maria del Fiore) and its magnificent dome by Brunelleschi—an engineering achievement that still inspires architects and engineers today.
