The Cladding Safety Scheme (funding) launched in July 2023 to address safety risks associated with cladding.
Available to both private and social sector buildings, CSS applied to buildings over 11m in height, measured in accordance with AD B), and which were wholly residential or mixed-use (with at least 2 residential units).
Where eligible, funding could apply to works directly related to the recommendations of a FRAEW, including pre-tender and/or full works, access, professional fees and managing agent fees, and reimbursement for the FRAEW itself.
The announcement was a confirmation of what many of us in the industry have been calling for, an expansion of CSS eligibility to buildings under 11m in height.
Addressing safety fire risks associated with cladding and external wall systems has remained a critical priority across the residential sector. We welcome the expansion of funding as it allows more buildings to seek support to drive forward important safety works programmes.
Timing is everything, and we urge our clients to consider making early applications to be in the strongest position.
Applications are made through the Building Remediation Hub – you have 8 weeks to apply, before the applications close on 12 October.
We are supporting our clients through the application process.
Working alongside Fire Engineering partners at Diamond and Co, we provide multi-disciplinary expertise across surveying, risk assessments and fire engineering.
